The morning started with an excellent, Swedish style breakfast. There was an abundance of choices, from French müsely to Vietnamese fried rice.
After the breakfast, we went to Keep Vietnam Clean, a local NGO specialised in plastic recycling. They seemed upbeat about their commitment and efforts, given the desperate need Hanoi would otherwise have with their heavy plastic pollution. In the discussion, cultural differences were surfacing, especially with stark contrast between our outgoing Dutch entourage and the reserved Vietnamese reception. They were keen however to understand us, and to provide the most accurate answers.
In the evening, we headed out to the Steakhouse du Paris. Even though the supposed French setting and western decor, the Vietnamese vibe was still prevalent, as the staff were only Vietnamese themselves. Even though the food was okay for our western budgets, our group got somewhat annoyed, that they were charging for wet wipes, even though it was only one sixth of a euro.
