[2] Introduction SDG’s

Hi there!

In this Blog we would like to introduce you to the Sustainable Development Goals, as the framework we use in the research project of our Study Tour.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework is a global initiative established by the United Nations. It represents a universal call to action to address some of the world’s most pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges. The SDGs consist of 17 interconnected goals, each with specific targets aimed at improving the well-being of people and the planet by 2030. These goals cover a wide range of issues, including poverty, inequality, climate change, sustainable development, and peace, offering a comprehensive roadmap for governments, organizations, and individuals to work together towards a more sustainable and equitable future.

Trying to encompass all 17 SDGs in the research project would mean leaving out the depth that makes such a research project interesting, since the minor module will only span 10 weeks. So, we decided to focus on the SDGs that lie most near the studies in the study tour, industrial engineering and management and International business administration. We wanted to ensure that the research would be applicable to companies in each of the countries we would do research in, that was a prerequisite for the overall comparison between the countries. we decided on SDG 7, 9, and 11:
– SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
– SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
– SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities

We believe we have selected a balanced set of SDG goals to try to understand how companies strive to be more sustainable every day! Next post we will dive deeper into each SDG, see you then!
